I’d rather be a lover – a poem by A.Garden

I won’t fall for teaching

I won’t be a preacher

I won’t be tempted again

To be something less than

Who I am: a lover.
Please don’t think I need gold

Diamonds are pretty but

They’ll never come close

To the brilliance of love,

So I’d rather be a lover.
I know some people never seem to learn

And others try and try and try

But don’t ever make it to the end

What more can I do then my very best

To show them how beautiful they are

When love shines

Through their words and eyes.
I won’t fall for teaching

I won’t be a preacher

I won’t be tempted again

To be something less than

Who I am: a lover.
Here’s to all lovers who whitstand

The thunderstorms of the world.
